Cornelius Hankins (Mississippi/Tennessee, 1863-1946) impressionistic oil on board landscape depicting a grove of trees with flowering pink and white dogwoods, likely a Middle Tennessee scene. Signed lower right. Later molded giltwood frame. 10-1/2" x 7-1/2" sight, 13-1/2" x 11" framed. Note: Hankins studied with Robert Henri, leader of the Ashcan School, and with William Merritt Chase in New York. He was active for much of his career in the Nashville area.
