Cornelius Hankins (Mississippi/Tennessee, 1863-1946) impressionistic oil on board landscape depicting a grove of trees with flowering pink and white dogwoods, likely a Middle Tennessee scene. Signed lower right. Later molded giltwood frame. 10-1/2" x 7-1/2" sight, 13-1/2" x 11" framed. Note: Hankins studied with Robert Henri, leader of the Ashcan School, and with William Merritt Chase in New York. He was active for much of his career in the Nashville area. Provenance: descended in the family of William Wesley Dillon (1866-1934) of Nashville. Condition: Excellent condition. Condition: Excellent condition.
