1st item: Miniature portrait on ivory of a gentleman in formal attire, signed lower right Otto Eckardt (German, 1800-1900). Housed in a blue-enamel on silver frame, unmarked. 2-3/4" x 2-1/4" sight, 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" framed (overall). Circa 1890, possibly an American subject painted from a photograph sent to the artist in Europe. 2nd item: Colored engraving depicting a man in 18th century attire, signed in plate in pencil S. or J. Anderson. Ebonized wood frame. 2-1/2" square plate size, 7" x 6" framed. Provenance: a Nashville, Tennessee collection. Condition: 1st item: Excellent condition (painting); enamel on frame has some minute chips. Portrait is loose in frame. 2nd item: overall toning, small creases near left side plate mark.
