Delft octagonal polychrome jar decorated by Jan Gaal (Dutch, fl. 1707-27) in the Chinoiserie taste. Comprised of a domed ribbed lid with figural foo dog final over a shaped body and flaring octagonal base. Decorated in the petit feu or cashmere style with foliate, medallion, and lattice designs in polychrome colors of blue, green, red, and yellow. Marked on the base JG/36. 17 3/4" H x 8 1/4" W. 18th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition. The lid edge with scattered fleabites and losses to the glaze. The rim of the jar with old restoration.
