Interior atent lock plate engraved with ‘”TOULMIN & GALE LONDON”. The lower removable drawer opens to reveal a writing surface with two ink bottles. Fitted with a later custom wood stand. Box measures: 6 3/4 in. H x 13 in. W x 9 1/4 in. D. Stand measures: 13 in. H x 14 in. W x 10 in. D.
PROVENANCE: Private Kentucky estate.
CONDITION: Box with losses to brass inlay on the lid and two areas of wood loss. Area of wood loss to top of left side. The key is present but does not engage the lock. Some mother-of-pearl accessories are not present. Contemporary wooden stand.
