Large Matthew Boulton Sheffield plated meat dome on warming stand. Oval form cover with finely chased acanthus leaf handle terminating in lion masks and paws on a foliate molded base and gadrooned band at lower mid-section. Engraved armorial crest to the side and sun hallmark stamped to the underside of the lid near the handle. Warming stand with deep well and tree of life interior, hot water compartment, scrolled ivory handles and four circular feet. Twin armorial crests to the top of the rim along with two sun hallmarks stamped to the underside of the rim. Cover – 10″ H x 19 1/8″ L. Stand – 23 1/8″ L x 16 3/4″ W. 18th century. Private Lookout Mountain, TN collection. CONDITION: Both pieces overall good condition with surface scratches consistent with use. Minor pinpoint dents along the lower cover edge and some pitting to top of cover, primarily to the underside.
