Collection of thirteen (13) pencil on paper sketches by Werner Wildner (Nashville, Tennessee, 1925-2004). Many appear to be preparatory studies for paintings. Subjects include animals, playing cards, human figures, and surrealist compositions. All are signed "W" except for one large sketch depicting two gnomes carrying letters to spell "Werner." Two are highlighted with watercolor or gouache. Sizes range from 3 3/4" square to 10" x 8". Unframed.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Dr. Spencer Thornton of Nashville, acquired by him directly from the artist.
CONDITION: All sketches are taped at corners and some centers to white cardstock; the "Werner" sketch is taped entirely across the top. Light creasing, scattered edge chipping, one with yellow paint has 2" tear to top edge.
