1st item: Geoffrey Hunt, also known as Geoff Hunt (English, b. 1948) miniature marine painting of an American ship and a British ship meeting each other at sea. Both are depicted flying their respective flags. Signed and dated lower left GWG Hunt RMS 92. Matted with gilt fillet and framed under glass in a molded antique frame with flower and scroll motifs. Sight: 2 1/2" H x 4" W. Framed: 13 1/2" H x 17" W. Note: Geoffrey (Geoff) Hunt is a leading figure in British maritime art, specializing in depictions of 18th and 19th-century ships, and was former President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. 2nd item: Nautical theme pot lid, probably Prattware, historical transferware image on ceramic ground titled "The Chin-Chew River," dating from the circa 1846 English war with China. Depicts ships in turbulent waters being fired upon by cannons and soldiers as they approach land. Housed in circular wood frame. Sight: 3 3/4" dia. Framed: 5 3/4" dia. English, mid 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Painting is in excellent condition. Frame has some scattered edge losses up to 2" L. 2nd item: Hairline visible to underside of ceramic ground. Some scratches to front surface and scattered tiny pits in the making, minor wear and exfoliation to frame.
