Paul Matthew Scott (American/Tennessee, 1910-1982) oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a farmstead in the background with two visible figures flanked by large trees in the midground and a grassy field foreground. Rendered in loose impressionist style brushstrokes and signed in red lower right corner PAUL SCOTT. Inscriptions en verso including the name of a past owner (see related lot, a portrait of Martha Gamble, also in this auction). Sight: Framed: 16" H x 20 1/4" W. Framed: 18 1/2" H x 22 3/4" W. Circa 1940s.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned from the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Minor rubbing to canvas along the lower stretcher.
