Comer Jennings, Jr. (Alabama/Georgia, 1926-2016) oil on wood panel still life painting depicting an apple cut down the middle and standing with exposed seeds and white flesh on a tabletop. Signed lower right and dated '69. Housed in a whitewashed gilt cove molded frame with linen mat and gilt fillet. Sight – 5" square. Frame 12 1/4" square. Biography: Comer Jennings Jr. was born in Eufaula, Alabama and studied at Princeton University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Emory University, as well as at the New School and the Art Students League in New York. He worked in advertising in Philadelphia, New York, and in Atlanta on the Coca-Cola account. In his later career he focused on society portraits, botanicals and still life paintings.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Ann H. Wells, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Painting – excellent condition. Mat has some scattered small stains.
