American school oil on canvas still life painting, horizontal orientation, depicting a blue and white Chinese ceramic jar and woven oak basket turned on its side, both filled with multicolored chrysanthemums against a dark background. Label for Newman Galleries Philadelphia, PA affixed en verso. Housed in a contemporary chrome painted frame with a linen mat and gilt filet. Sight: 15 1/2" H x 35" W. Sight: 22" H x 41 1/2" W. Late 19th/early 20th century.
CONDITION: Painting has been lined and varnished, significant retouching throughout the background and light scattered retouching to flowers, visible under UV light inspection.
