Marked to the underside for Whiting, Sterling, 2328, 6 pints. 14 5/8 in. H. 40.59 oz troy. Note: The Appalachian Expositions, also known as the Appalachian Exhibitions, were held in Knoxville in 1910 and 1911 in what is now known as Chilhowee Park. Attending dignitaries included President Taft (who spoke in 1911) and former President Theodore Roosevelt (who spoke in 1910). Nine major buildings were created to house displays and attractions. The Expositions featured several livestock and horse competitions, horse shows, racing and breeding displays, along with the first airplane landing in East Tennessee (on Cal Johnson’s racetrack) and art exhibits featuring the work of artists such as Catherine Wiley and Lloyd Branson.
