Kentucky coin silver goblet having a bulbous body and flared beaded rim, atop a domed beaded foot. Stamped J. KITTS to underside for John Kitts, Louisville, Kentucky (working 1843-1878; this mark used circa 1836-1874). Monogrammed “Miss Kate Thomas” to one side. 7 in. H. 8.16 troy ounces. Note: according to oral history, this cup was awarded as a premium at a Kentucky horse race in the 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville collection, by descent in the family of Samuel P. Taylor of Hart County Kentucky.
CONDITION: Overall, very good condition. Monogram possibly not contemporaneous to the goblet.
