Attributed to Frank Walton (British, 1840-1928) oil on canvas landscape painting titled "In the Orchard" depicting a young boy standing on a dirt road lined by orchard trees, a tall hill in the background. Initialed "F.M.W." lower left. Bedford Furniture Company, Inc., Nashville, TN paper label with artist attribution, titled, dated, and additional information, Schillay & Rehs Inc, New York paper label with lot number, en verso of frame. Geo. Rawhey & Co London ink stamp en verso of canvas. Gilt metal placard with "F. M. Walton" affixed lower center of frame. Housed in a carved gilt wood Rococo style frame with pierced corners. Sight – 11" H x 15" W. Framed – 18" H x 21 3/4" W. Early 20th century. Provenance: the living estate of Annette Petri, Nashville, Tennessee. CONDITION: Overall very good condition with surface grime to sky quadrant. Possibly relined.
