An early 20th century Louis Vuitton steamer trunk; leather covering with Louis Vuitton monogram, embossed leather and brass studded wood bindings, brass fittings, casters to base, and interior cotton lining. Original owner’s initials “K.V.S”. and “New York” painted to sides in red. 23″ H x 35 5/8″ W x 20 3/4″ D. Note: Trunk descended through the family of Francis Skiddy von Stade, Sr., (Long Island, NY 1884 – 1967). Stade was a champion polo player and the president of the Saratoga Race Course. The trunk bears the initials of his wife Kathryn. CONDITION: Overall general wear and losses to exterior. One of the back lid hinges is broken, side carrying straps are missing. Interior lining with scattered stains.
