Large Matthew Boulton Sheffield plated meat dome on warming stand. Oval form cover with finely chased acanthus leaf handle and lower gadrooned border together with an English plated conforming oval under platter with gadrooned border. Cover with Boulton twin suns hallmark to the underside top beneath the handle. Dome – 10″ H x 18″ W x 10 1/2″ D. Platter – 15″ H x 20″ W. Meat dome, 18th century. Platter, 19th century. CONDITION: A couple areas of pitting to the top of the cover, light surface scratching. Platter with wear to silver along the edge, light surface scratching to top, losses to silver on the underside.
