Frank Fowler (American, 1852-1910) oil on board painting of a Victorian woman in profile. The subject is wearing a blue dress with lace trim, her hair upswept into a bun, and is set against a mottled beige-grey background with slight sheen, giving the portrait a sense of dimension. Signed and dated lower right "Frank Fowler/ Paris 1877." Panel – 8 5/8 H x 6 3/8 W. Painting is accompanied by a small wooden easel for display.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Jean Rippy, Franklin, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Faint craquelure to face and neck area, and some light grime. Tiny loss to tip of upper left corner. Overall good condition.
