A pair of Sevres or Sevres style celeste blue porcelain potpourri jars or parfumee urns and covers in the Neoclassical taste. The urns feature heavy gilt bronze mounts including pierced guilloche, Greek key, and laurel leaf and acanthus bands at the collars over lion's head masks and swags at the shoulders, and raised circular gilt bronze bases atop Greek Key decorated square plinths. The domed covers feature gilt bronze surrounds and pomegranate finials. Unsigned. Old Montreal import stickers to interiors. 17"H x 12" diameter overall. Circa 1900. Note: a very similar pair of urns attributed to Sevres, circa 1775, is in the collection of the Huntington Library and Art Museum in San Marino, California.
PROVENANCE: Private Middle Tennessee Collection.
CONDITION: One bronze lid knob is loose, use caution if picking up the lid by the knob. One urn with an old surface chip to rim interior, approx. 1/4". Otherwise overall very good condition with light patination to bronze, some grime to lids.
