Rare and generously sized Mississippi Agricultural Presentation Goblet, coin silver, engraved "Premium / Noxubee Fair / 1858" within a garland of repousse grapes and vines, molded rim and foot ring. No maker's mark. 7"H, 5. 11 oz troy. Note: According to T.S. Boggess, Jr., Emeritus Associate Professor of Food & Science, University of Georgia, the Noxubee County Agricultural Society was organized in 1858 "to promote a better and improved agriculture through the showing of all kinds of crops and livestock, as well as to satisfy a social need when people from all sections of the county competed in culinary arts, needlecraft and other exhibits".
