British School, early 19th century Folk Art mixed media oil and pastel on canvas painting depicting the three quarter view bust portrait of a dark haired gentleman in a black suit against a brown background. Unsigned. Housed under glass in a molded giltwood frame with Joseph Sawers & Son (Paisley, Scotland) label en verso. Sight – 29 3/4" H x 24 1/2" W. Framed – 36 1/8" H x 31" W. Early/mid 19th century. Provenance: The Estate of Mrs. Frank Wood, Evansville, Indiana and Dickson, Tennessee. CONDITION: Craquelure, visible stretcher marks. Yellowing to varnish. Areas of rubbing/paint loss, largest 4". Areas of loss, age cracks to frame. Not examined outside of frame.
