Pair of Joe Parrott (American/Tennessee, 1944) oil on board cityscapes depicting downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. One depicts a street scene with street level and multi-level buildings flanking each side and one lone red stoplight in the foreground, signed and dated PARROTT 80 lower right. The other depicts an alley scene with a fragment of blue sky and background city view to the right, signed and dated PARROTT 81 lower right. Both are rendered in heavy vertical and horizontal brush strokes. The street scene is housed in an ebonized and silver wood frame and measures: Sight – 17 1/2" H x 23 1/2" W. Framed – 20" H x 26" W. The alley scene is housed in a carved wood frame and linen matte and measures: 15 1/2" H x 19 1/2" W. Framed – 22 1/2" H x 26 1/2" W.
PROVENANCE: Collection of John H. and Carol R. Evans, Farragut, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Both paintings overall very good condition. Ebonized with very slight wear. Wood frame with abrasion to right front side and minor scattered abrasions.
