Sterling Strauser (American, 1907-1995) oil on Masonite still life painting depicting orange poppies in a clear cylindrical vase set against an indistinct, swirled yellow/white background, all rendered in a thick impasto with sgraffito outlines and detailing. Signed "Strauser" and dated "8_" lower right. Unframed. 24" H x 11 1/2" W.

PROVENANCE: The collection of Myron King, Nashville, Tennessee.

CONDITION: Some grime and inclusions to upper left quadrant including in background, where a raised area may have come into contact with a darker colored surface (possibly cardboard) while still wet. Some minor edge and corner chipping.
