Middle Eastern Snaphaunce or Miquelet lock operated black powder muzzle-loading rifle, .70 caliber. Unmarked. Maple stocks with fishtail or fantail buttstock, iron frame, transitional octagonal to round barrel, engraved copper ramrod holders, front sight bead. Barrel length – 47". Overall length – 60 1/2". Private Middle Tennessee collection. CONDITION: Oxidation to all iron surfaces, with some pitting. Lock predated other components of rifle. Overall general wear to wood. Section of butt stock possible later replacement. Ramrod holders possibly added later.
