Middle Eastern flintlock blunderbuss pistol, unmarked. Mahogany stocks with carved garland swags. Flowering Kufic style script, embossed round barrel with flared muzzle (1 3/4" across), iron frame, brass trigger guard, side plate, and butt plate, all decorated with carved or incised foliate motifs. Barrel length – 10 1/2". Overall length – 20". Provenance: The Estate of Charles Boyd Coleman, Jr., Chattanooga, TN. CONDITION: Overall worn condition. Areas of loss, largest 1" x 2 3/4", to stocks. 1/8" area of loss to top of brass butt plate. Areas of oxidation, largest 3/4", to barrel. Bore is dark.
