5-piece English George III period sterling silver and cut glass cruet set, most pieces marked PB and AB for Peter and Ann Bateman, London. Consisting of a crescent-shaped engraved stand with curved paw feet and a wood base fitted with two oil and/or vinegar pitchers, a mustard pot, and a sugar castor, all with Bateman marks and date letters for 1798, together with an associated matching castor with marks for John Turner, Birmingham, and date letter for 1798. The set also includes a small English sterling mustard ladle with an illegible maker’s mark. 8 1/4 in. H x 6 1/2 in. W.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Marty and David Black, Rockford, TN.
CONDITION: The center handle is missing a partial lower edge at the wood base and is slightly wobbly. The mustard pot lid with denting on one side of the shoulder. Wear to some marks.
