Two (2) American coin silver mugs or cups. 1st item: Louisiana coin silver Cup with beaded rim over a straight body with repousse floral and grapevine decoration, tapering at the lower edge to a spreading short foot with laurel and dart banding. Banner marks to underside: HYDE & GOODRICH MANUFACTURERS / NEW ORLEANS LA with K in cartouche mark for Christopher Kuchler (working New Orleans, 1852-1870). Monogrammed "W. de B.E." to center cartouche. 4 1/4"H (including handle). 2nd item: Tall footed cup with beaded rims enclosing floral repousse decoration and partially gilded interior. Marked PURE SILVER COIN and T & W to underside for Tift and Whiting (New York). Not monogrammed. 5 1/4"H (including handle). Combined weight: 9.06 oz troy.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Both items in good condition with minor wear, scratches, and dents. Rim of New Orleans cup is slightly out of round due to a dent.
