Reuven Rubin (Romania/Israel, 1893-1974) The Story of King David portfolio with complete text and twelve loose color lithographs on Arches paper, 1971. Number 71 from the edition of 250 printed by Mourlot, Paris and published by Penn Atelier Graphics, Inc. and William Haber, New York. Each print signed and numbered in pencil, lower margin, with blind stamp lower left. Frontispiece with green felt-tip marker illustration of an artist at an easle, peace dove, and tree inscribed "Peace in Caesaria" and signed and dated 1973 plus dedication "To Peggy & David / dearest friends to my heart / with deep affection," also signed and dated 1973. Housed in original linen clamshell box. Each sheet: 25 1/2" H x 19 1/2" W. Portfolio: 26 3/4" x 20 3/4" H.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Ronnie Steine, Nashville, by descent from his parents.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition, some text pages with ink transfer from adjacent prints. Clamshell box soiling to cover and liquid stains to spine area, primarily to lower 2/3 of front and side.
