Old Sheffield plated meat dome with platter. Large lobed oval form with a naturalistic foliate handle, scrolling foliate and shell rim and two engraved armorial crests both with banners reading REGEM DEFENDERE VICTUM ("To Defend the Conquered King"). Fleur de lis hallmark to underside beneath handle. Together with a platter having a deep well and tree of life interior with a gadrooned rim and resting on four round feet. Platter is unmarked. Dome: 11" H x 20 1/4" W x 15 3/4" D. Platter: 26 1/4" W x 19" D x 3 1/4" H.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Margaret Harold Roberts, Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with normal surface scratches, wear, scattered minute dents. Two 1 1/4" x 2 1/4" to rim of platter may have once had armorial crests that have since been removed.
