Stella Swiss tabletop disc music box, manufactured by Mermod Freres, wind up mechanism on right side with speed control mechnism. Serial #51582 and additionally marked #126. Housed in a mahogany veneered case having carved sides and molded base with an inlaid top, embossed metal handles and storage drawer for additional discs. J. CH. DETMERING / HAMBURG label to underside of lid. Lot includes eleven 14" discs. Fully functional. 10 5/8" H x 24 1/2" W x 18 7/8" D. Late 19th century. Private Middle Tennessee collection. CONDITION: Losses to veneer of case and to inlay on top. Case missing one bun foot. One tooth missing on comb.
