Two (2) Swords, including Model 1850 and GAR Sword. 1st item: Model 1850 Army Staff & Field Officers' Sword. Ray skin grip wrapped in triple brass wire, brass D guard combination basket hilt with foliate motifs, steel blade with quill back, silver painted metal scabbard. Blade length – 31 1/4". Overall length with scabbard – 39". 2nd item: G.W. and Simmons and Company Boston, Massachusetts Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) Sword Patterned on the US Model 1860 Field and Staff Officer's Sword. Shagreen leather grip wrapped in triple brass wire, brass D guard with "GAR" embossed to guard with naval motifs and "US" marked to crossed rifles. Frosted steel blade with patriotic motifs and "G.A.R.", brass mounted nickeled metal scabbard. Ricasso marked "G. W. Simmons & Co Boston Mass". Blade length – 29 7/8". Overall length with scabbard – 36 1/2". CONDITION: 1st item: Sword dismounted and heavily cleaned, erasing any marks. Brass bright and buffed. Wire wrap in place but loose. Repair on knuckle bow where it joins pommel cap. 2nd item: Overall very good condition, pitting to blade. Very light areas of pitting to scabbard. Wrap tight and intact.
