Theodore Hatchett (b. Tennessee, 1947) marble portrait sculpture depicting the head of an African American woman, mounted atop a weathered wood base by means of a metal pin. Unsigned. Sculpture 8"H x 10" diameter, base 7-1/2"H x 5-1/2" x 6". Provenance: the estate of Louise Katzman, Nashville, Tennessee. Biography: Ted Hatchett studied art at Tennessee State University under Greg Ridley. He also attended Memphis State University and Olympia College in Washington. He exhibited at Fisk University Art Show in 1983 and was the winner of the purchase prize at the 1987 Tennessee All State Art Exhibit. Condition: Natural fissures and hairlines to marble, a few scratches, overall good condition.
