Early Chinese copper hand warmer, oval lobed form with pierced and engraved lid depicting squirrels in treetops, the base with band of fret design and chased vignettes including dragon and flowers, all on a fish-scale decorated ground and a raised oval foot. Double round bail handles. 19th century or earlier. 4 1/4"H x 6 1/2"W x 5 1/4"D, not including handles.
PROVENANCE: Found in a Nashville, Tennessee estate.
CONDITION: Small repair at foot and to cover, oxidation to interior, light wear to exterior.
