Continental School, possibly Flemish, oil on panel painting depicting a wooded landscape with a body of water. Figures in a boat pull a large limb from the water, while another figure walks near the waterfront. Unsigned. Period, possibly original, molded giltwood frame. Sight: 14 1/2 in H x 21 1 /2 in W. Frame: 21 in. H x 28 in. W. Late 18th/early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Dr. William and Susan Bernet, purchased in the 1980s.
CONDITION: UV light inspection shows 1 in. area of repair to lower left quadrant, on grass. Repaired split to panel in upper right sky area. Other scattered retouch, particularly to edges. Frame has a 7-inch area of surface loss to lower left side and several other areas of loss and repair. Regilding to frame.
