Edward Chalmers Leavitt (American/Rhode Island, 1842-1904) oil on canvas seascape depicting waves crashing against a shoreline. Signed and dated in red lower right "E.C. Leavitt/1895". Housed in the original scrolling foliate gilt carved frame. Sight – 11 5/8" H x 23 5/8" W. Framed – 23" H x 34 3/4" W. CONDITION: Painting overall good condition. Possible inpainting in waves lower right center above signature and upper left quadrant. Some minor cracquelure, old abrasions to frame, note corners.
