1965 photo by Joseph Scherschel, staff photographer for the National Geographic magazine, depicting the 9 United States Supreme Court or "The Warren Court", standing and sitting around a large library table. Signatures of each Justice in the lower margin: Chief Justice Earl Warren (1891-1974), William J. Brennan (1906-1997), Potter Stewart (1915-1985), Byron White (1917-2002), Abe Fortas (1910-1982), William O. Douglas (1898-1980), John M. Harlan (1899-1971), Tom C. Clark (1899-1977), and Hugo Black (1886-1971). 15 1/4" x 10 3/8" image, mounted to card sight 18 1/2" x 12", 26" x 19" matted in giltwood and ebonized frame. CONDITION: Photograph faded and lightly discolored. Brennan's signature faded with loss to upper part of "B". Other signatures lightly faded, some light pencil inscriptions added underneath to identify justices. Some chips to frame.
