Group of Schoenhut reduced-size Humpty Dumpty Circus toys, plus later Schoenhut/Delavan pieces. Nine (9) original 1920's-30's Schoenhut reduced size pieces include: one (1) lady rider (6 1/2" H); three (3) elephants (8" L); one (1) giraffe (8 1/2" H); one (1) white dog (5" L); one (1) rhino (6 3/4" L); one (1) lion (5 3/4" L); and one (1) donkey (8" L). Eight (8) 1950's Delavan pieces include four (4) clowns (6 1/2" H); two (2) elephants (7" L); one (1) cowboy (6 1/2" H); and one (1) donkey (8" L); each stamped underneath with circular "Humpty Dumpty Toys" logo. Also included are two (2) ladders, two (2) pedestals, one (1) chair, one (1) barrel, and one (1) "Humpty Dumpty Toys" fold-out sales pamphlet. Note: In 1950, Otto Schoenhut granted Nelson B. Delavan of Seneca Falls, New York, the rights to produce toys in the style of the A. Schoenhut circus and to use the Humpty Dumpty Circus name. Delavan manufactured reproductions, under the name Humpty Dumpty Toy Company, until 1952.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of John Bullard, Brentwood, TN.
CONDITION: All items appear to be restrung, some have general wear/losses/scuffs to paint. All but one elephant with missing trunk tips; giraffe with repainted legs.
