Marc Chagall (French/Russian, 1887-1985) etching with hand-coloring on wove paper with deckled right and lower edge, from Les Fables de la Fontaine, “Le Savetier et le Financier,” 1952. Published by Teriade Editeur, Paris. Signed in the plate and numbered XXV/XL in pencil, lower left. Ref.: Cramer books 22. Housed under glass in a giltwood frame with textile liner and gilt fillet and olive mat. Sheet: 15 1/4 in H x 11 5/8 in W. Framed: 28 1/4 in H x 24 1/2 in W.

PROVENANCE: Private Memphis collection, purchased 1971. Receipt from an auction at the Howard Mann Art Center in Lambertville, NJ and authenticity certificate from the same are available to the winning bidder. 

CONDITION: Overall very good condition, with full margins. Mat toning to margins.
