Two Chinese porcelain ginger jars, Famille Verte on powder blue ground, with reserves depicting figures engaged in varying activities including riding on horseback and sword fighting. One jar has a pierced wooden lid. The jars are stamped “Made in China” and accompanied by three associated, non-matching wooden stands. Jars – 7 3/4 in H x 6 in Diameter (at widest point). Circa 1920.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Dr. James and Susan O’Neill. Purchased by consignor’s grandmother at Ovington’s in the early 1900s.
CONDITION: Both jars in excellent condition with a couple of tiny flakes to underside rim. One jar lacks a wooden lid and the associated (later) wood stands do not match each other. One stand was used by the previous owner as a make-do lid.
