Lloyd Branson (Tennessee, 1861-1925) panoramic pastoral landscape. Cows in field at left foreground and farm buildings amongst trees in center with a mountain vista in background. Signed lower right “L. Branson”. Period flame mahoganyveneer frame. Sight: 27-5/8″ W x 7-3/4″ H; frame: 34″ W x 14-1/4″ H. Biography – Branson is known as the first East Tennessee artist to receive formal art training in Europe (at the National Academy of Design in Paris) and studied at theNational Academy of Design in New York. He returned to Tennessee and entered into a business partnership with Frank McCrary from 1885 to 1903, and became a leader in the East Tennessee arts community. Research courtesy of James A.
