Continental wool tapestry sewn in sections, upper left and right depicting queen with peacock in landscape setting and male figure wearing animal cloak, holding staff and with ladder and bear. Lower two-thirds features landscape with large deer, a tented campground and several sailing vessels in waterway, some with fishermen; right quadrant features landscape with plants and large tree. All woven in shades of green, blue, gold, red and brown. Enclosed in a 1-1/4" wide green border. 51 1/2" x 39 1/4". French or Flemish, late 18th century. CONDITION: Likely cut down from a larger tapestry or tapestries. Reinforced with linen and cotton bands to back and newer green cotton liner with tabs for display. Green border replaced at right side and upper left. Some fading and small repairs. Overall good condition.
