New Orleans, Louisiana retailed coin silver mug bearing the mark of short lived partnership of merchants Dillon and Hovel, 1856-1857, featuring molded, delicate spiral ribbed rim and footring, joined by plain, slightly tapering sides, and a C scroll handle. Stamped DILLON & HOVEL in arched rectangle, with bust, lion, and beehive psuedohallmarks attributed to Eoff & Shephard of New York. 4 1/4"H (to top of handle). 4.16 oz troy.
PROVENANCE: Private Southern collection.
CONDITION: Some light surface unevenness/denting, overall good condition. No monograms.
