Note: This copy has the first state of the Oliver Twist back advertisement. Page 82, Line 11 has only one single quotation mark preceding " 'Halloa! " instead of a double quotation mark. 2nd item: CHRISTMAS BOOKS, Combined Edition, by Charles Dickens, published by Chapman and Hall, London, 1852. Lauriat and Company, Boston, n.d. [1922]. Hardcover 12mo, 168 gilt-edged pages with 8 illustrations by John Leech, 3 facsimiles from Dicken's original manuscript, and one double-sided back advertisement page, hardbound in red cloth with blindstamped and gilt titled covers, green end papers and pastedowns. Hollywood Book Store retail sticker to back cover pastedown. 6 3/4" H x 4 3/8" W x 1" D. 4th item: A CHRISTMAS CAROL IN PROSE, by Charles Dickens, published by Houghton, Osgood, and Company, Boston, 1880. Hardcover octavo, 111 gilt edged pages, engraved frontispiece with 19 full page illustrations with tissue paper guards, additional illustrations throughout, hardbound in rust colored cloth with blindstamped and gilt titled covers, gilt lettering to spine, black end papers and pastedowns. 8 3/4" H x 6 1/4" W x 1" D.

CONDITION: 1st item: Cover with general wear, scuffs, light staining, some fraying, corners bumped. Spine is cocked, appears to be rebacked by red cloth at top and bottom, areas of loss, largest 1/4" x 3/4". Pages with light toning, few areas of staining, creases, pencil and ink inscriptions front previous owners. Front matter pages, frontipiece, title pages, are becoming separated from spine at top, second half of book is becoming separated form spine at top. 2nd item: Covers with fading, sunning, scattered stains, minute tears to top and bottom of spine, corners bumped. Pages with toning, some dampstaining, foxing spots, pencil inscriptions from previous owners. 3rd-4th items: Rubbing to edges of covers, surface wear, minute pinprick to center of spine of 3rd item, corners bumped. Pages in good, legible condition with light toning, minor foxing spots, previous inscription from previous owners.
