Herb Williams (Alabama/Tennessee, b. 1973) small Crayon Art Flag and Owl Sculpture. 1st item: Hollow papier mache sculpture of an owl, the body made from sheet music and mounted with a carved wood beak, supported on twisted wire feet and mounted to a base made from an old .45 record, signed “Herb” in paint on the surface of the record.18 in. H x 10 in. W x 11 in. D. 2nd item: Image of a Flag made from cut and solid crayons, adhered to a piece of beige handmade paper and mounted to a black framed mat. Signed “Herb” lower right. Overall frame: 9 in.W x 7 in. H. Note: Alabama born artist Herb Williams now lives and works in Nashville. His crayon sculptures have brought him worldwide acclaim and are in numerous private and public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He received the Joan Mitchell Foundation Museum Purchase Grant in 2004 and the Next Star Artist Award in 2008.
PROVENANCE: A Nashville, TN estate.
CONDITION: Both items excellent condition. Owl is hollow and extremely fragile.
