James Crawford Thom (New Jersey/New York/England/France, 1835-1898) oil on board Hudson River School style landscape genre painting depicting two children, dressed in peasant style clothing, exploring a forest with autumn foliage. Signed "JCT" lower right. Housed in a decorative carved gilt wood frame with acanthus leaves. Sight – 7 7/8" H x 6" W. Framed – 11 1/8" H x 9 1/8" W. Mid/late 19th century. Provenance: the collection of Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Slaymaker, Nashville, Tennessee. CONDITION: Overall good condition. Minor frame abrasions along bottom edge and top right of board.
