Tall Case Clock, mahogany veneered case with painted dial signed "E. Spencer Bolton". Swan's neck top with carved plinth, brass finial and rosettes, over the square dial, spandrels painted with red fans, sunbursts and roses, Roman numerals to designate hours, seconds and date dials, pierced brass hands. Face flanked by reeded hood columns, waist section door carved in a triple Gothic arch, flanked by reeded columns divided by ebonized and satinwood string inlay which repeats around the perimeter of the base. Base section with ogee molding at top and chamfered corners, raised on ogee bracket feet. 8 day brass works. 92 5/8" H x 23 3/4" W x 10" D. English, Circa 1825. Provenance: Estate of Bill Selden, Athens, TN. Condition: Veneer shrinkage, separations and chips, especially around Gothic arch on waist door, works not tested or guaranteed, dial and works not secured to seat board.
