1st item: Antique Tekke Turkmen Chuval, wool on wool. Central dark red or rust field with three rows of three guls, and a wide lower stylized flower ensi border. Woven in rust or dark red, blue, and cream colors. 4 ft 8 in x 2 ft 6 in. Circa 1900. 2nd item: Antique Turkmen Tekke Ensi rug, wool on wool construction. Central cruciform design having four panels with bird head and stylized diamond designs and a lower elem panel. Woven in brick red, blue, and cream colors. 4 ft 10 in x 4 ft. Circa 1890.
PROVENANCE: Private Des Moines, Iowa collection.
CONDITION: 1st item: losses to both upper corners, most of the fringe absent. 2nd item: Curling to two corners, overall good condition.
