Walter Hollis Stevens (Tennessee, 1927-1980), "Kites," circa 1970, abstract watercolor on paper painting depicting colorful, striped rectangles floating against a pale blue background. Signed "Stevens" lower right. Titled and illegibly dated "'7-" on the artist's label en verso. Housed under glass in a wood frame. Sight: 27 1/2" H x 31 1/2" W. Framed: 33" H x 29" W. Note: Stevens was one of the "Knoxville Seven" and a professor of art at the University of Tennessee. His work is in collections of the Birmingham Museum of Art, Carnegie Visual Arts Center in Alabama, and the Mint Museum in Charlotte.
PROVENANCE: The collection of William and Danya Downey, Nashville, TN.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Not examined outside of frame.
