1st item: Chinese mahogany storage box, dovetailed construction, interior fitted with shallow compartments at rear and to right. Pierced and incised brass latches on top and brass handles on sides. 9" H x 28-1/2" W x 19" D, late 19th/early 20th century. 2nd item: English mahogany fire screen with oak shield-shaped frame of needlepoint coat of arms, adjustable pole, tripod base with slipper feet dovetailed into standard, iron brace. 49-1/2" H x 14-1/2" W. Early 19th century. Provenance: Estate of Mrs. Mary Ann Bowers Thomas, Athens, Alabama. Condition: 1st item: Overall good condition. Left brass latch slightly bent and one rear pilaster missing. 2nd item: Embroidered shield likely not original to stand. Brass adjustment on pole is loose and frame does not stay stationary, causing abrasions to top of turned pole. CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition.
