David Mah (Memphis TN, 20th/21st c.) oil on canvas rural Americana painting, 1991. Three shirtless men in overalls or jeans carry buckets of water and a ladder as a barn burns before them and black smoke fills the yellow and purple sky. The man at left looks beyond the left edge of the painting and raises a hand to his mouth to shout while a leashed dalmation bounds into the scene at right. Signed and dated to lower right. Housed in a thin giltwood frame. Sight: 48 in. H x 72 in. W. Framed: 50 in. H x 74 in. W. Note: David Mah is a native Memphian who received a BFA from The Rhode Island School of Design and a MAT from The Memphis College of Art. His work can be found in collections at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, Memphis Pink Palace Museum, and the Cotton Museum at the Memphis Cotton Exchange.
