Greene County, Tennessee Chippendale style chest of drawers. Two over three graduated dovetailed drawers, chamfered corners, ogee base molding, ogee bracket feet with spur returns. Walnut primary, walnut and poplar secondary. Note found in drawer – "Dear Mrs. Weed, The chest you bought at our sale was in my family for a lot of years….I think it was made in Greene County, because all of my family lived here. I was a Hutton…" 42 1/2" H x 42" W x 22" D. Circa 1820. Provenance: Estate of Elsie Weed, Kingsport, TN. Condition: Refinished, replaced pulls, back boards resurfaced with insect damage to one edge, ogee feet pieced with some replaced blocking.
