Italian School pair of oil on canvas panels depicting figures in a bucolic landscape, including a fisherman, with lakes, bridges, castles, trees and mountains in the background. Each signed "M. Vannetti" lower corner. Narrow giltwood frames. Sight – 51" H x 31"W. Frames – 52"H x 32"W. Late 19th/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: A Nashville, Tennessee Estate.
CONDITION: 1st panel (with fisherman) – overall craquelure. Two 2" areas of tenting and inpainting upper right quadrant in trees. Significant scattered exfoliation to varnish layer only, except for a 2" area lower left corner and a 1/2" spot lower left edge where the flaking has reached the canvas. Two tiny dents/near punctures upper left corner. 2nd panel – overall craquelure. Significant exfoliation to center of canvas, with some involving both the varnish layer and top paint layer. 1/2" repaired tear lower right in trees/grass area.
